Transport and cars are another integral part of any bird watching or bird photography tour. Some delay in service hampers the itinerary and you may lose ending up on a shortened checklist. The drivers that we choose are disciplined, humble, and trained in basic English speaking.
Time and punctuality diligent
In the early morning, we start our journey and we go on for a whole day till daybreak. Sometimes the journeys are over a few hundred kilometers long and require hours long driving without stopping to reach the birding hotspot. Working under a tough schedule, we are thankful to our team of drivers, for their tireless assistance in our birding sessions in Sikkim. In addition to that, in some cases, they work night shifts as well, when we appoint them for nocturnal birding sessions. To maintain the timely execution of our birding tours, these people are also very important birding resources to us.
Non-smoker and Non-alcoholic
Though these are not very important to check, the drivers that we appoint are free from such habits. It also helps in maintaining good relations between the birdwatcher guests and bird tour operator relationship. These behaviors might abuse the guests, thus we refrain from any such activity. It is banned to smoke in public in Sikkim, this law also helps us to maintain clean and fresh air. Drinking alcohol not only increases the health risk of the driver but also puts every passenger at risk of sitting in the hilly terrain of Sikkim. Keeping these in mind, we put together a rejoiceful safe drive experience across the breathtakingly varied landscape of Sikkim.
Spotting the bird and stopping the car
A coordinated and successful birdwatching tour takes place when the teamwork between the bird guide and the driver is well-communicated. A resource with a lack of presence of mind or knowledge, might not cooperate well enough with the bird tour leader. The drivers are also taught about the basics of birding and they are also kept equipped with binoculars. When they also find their values and put effort into understanding and learning, it adds up more value to the tour. The more eyes you have in the field, the more successful the birding tour becomes; thus the drivers also try to add up to the checklists while not driving.
Communication skill
Amongst all the required soft skills of a driver, communication skill plays an important role; especially when the birders joining our tours are non-Indians. All are capable of a basic level of English speaking. We appreciate the do-it-now attitude of the drivers and they are very good listeners as well. So after booking a birding tour with us, you would be very much content with our drivers.
